Apparently still alive

In answer to the pokes and the asking, yes I'm still here. Ok, so mostly the voices I hear are the ones in my head but hey, someone has to keep them company.

Life has been pretty full on, what with the working and the spring time and the waking up at 6. The down side of Mr B having a new job is he no longer has the luxury of getting up when I leave for work. Now he is up just after 6 while I doze until alarm #2 and the 7am news. I now start work at just after 7.30, so I do get home earlier in the afternoons. The first few weeks of this were hell, until the body clocks adjusted a bit and we became accustomed to the less sleepingness.

So yes, still living, surviving. Not much else is new. My gorgeous niece continues to grow, adding a Halloween Trick-or Treat night to her list of accomplishments. Still no crawling, but much waving of the bum in the air and a suspicion on the part of her parents that there may have been slightly too much pre-natal yoga, since she does a superb downward dog.

We (me and the Mr B) went to Mt Annan Botanic Gardens last w/e, and we hope to get to a Thai water festival in Parramatta tomorrow. This may be a very watery Water Fest, given the rain we are having, but hey, unless you are made of sugar, or are the Wicked Witch of the West, it ain't gonna kill ya. And please have the courtesy to ignore the folly of this statement if I have a rotten cold next week :p

Hugs to all.

Ahoy me hearties! It be talk like a Pirate day, and I be in the mood for Pillage! Arrr you chicken?

Ok, so I have been playing way too much Pirates on that book of faces site. so sue me. And I'm crap at the blogging - take my pants away and make me walk the plank.

But I'll enjoy today if only because I know I'm not the only one. madradish, I'm talking to you. And you are right, WWTFSMD?

The Hamster does it again....

You'd think he'd learn but apparently not. One of the presenters on my all time favourite program Top Gear has, for the second time in 12 months, been in a car crash. This time, nothing injured on him except his pride. That may not last once Jeremy gets hold of him.

Linkage for those who want it.

An open letter

The article reproduced below is taken from the Sydney Morning Herald site today. It is suggested reading for those out there who think it is helpful, constructive or otherwise appropriate to say to someone with clinical depression that they should just "get over it". Since talking more openly of my struggle with depression, I have had some doubtless well-meaning individuals suggest to me that I am creating my own mood or somehow indulging myself in my not coping. That their comments were at best simply unhelpful and occasionally hypocritical seemed to quite escape them. But self-knowledge is a rare beast, I certainly don't hold myself as a paragon in this area.

The next time you think it appropriate to say something along these lines, I highly recommend the "pause, reflect and have a cup of tea" approach. It also helps when writing irate emails and making phone calls.

It WAS a tumour

[say it in an Arnie voice and it makes more sense....] Some of you know I had minor surgery on my hand a bit over a week ago. The surgery bandages are off and stitches out and I (finally) have the pathology report.

It was a giant-cell tumour of the tendon sheath. It was benign, so that is the end of the story. Depressingly common :D Here I was hoping it might be unusual or strange. Well, I guess it was a little of those things, but dammit, I wanted my surgeon to come out with something like "well, I've never seen that before in my life".

I guess I just like being odd.

It is healing up well, a little tender but that is all. if you want to get a look at it before it heals more, you'll have to get in quick. Or maybe I could get Mr B to practice with the macro function on the camera? Yeah! lets do that!

Stay tuned....

Happy birthday wishes

To the aussiemandias!  MAy you live long and prosper, whilst brandishing a Kalashnikov at your enemies! (Mr B agrees with you, having fired a similar weapon many moons ago. Scary things!)

Hugs, go see cavorting, scantily clad women and drink good whiskey!

i got hit by a radish

A madradish . So she hits me with this memeage. Ok, so I MADE her hit me and it is really all my fault. I gave her some lyrics and she failed to id them, but the resulting qns are below. All under a cut so you don't get too bored with me and the space I take up.

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favourite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.

2. I respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.

3. You update your LJ with the answers to the questions.

4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.

5. When others comment asking to be asked, ask them five questions.
